Solid 904L Steel

Solidswiss.cd uses a 250 ton press to cut the 904L steel case. 904L is usually used in the chemical industry, where maximum resistance against corrosion is essential. Non magnetic – Corrosion Resistant

Solidswiss.cd 904L grade steel is non-magnetic in all conditions and has excellent weldability and formability. Although originally developed for its resistance to sulphuric acid it also has a very high resistance to a wide range of environments. Salt and other minerals proved to be catalysts for corrosion and deterioration around the threads that hold the caseback.

To prevent premature deterioration, Solidswiss.cd uses 904L, a stainless steel with slightly higher nickel and chromium content. 904L is also resistant to chloride, a potential cause for pitting and corrosion.

The stones are then re-fired at a temperature of 1800° C in order to stabilize the material.

The corundum’s are sawn by thin diamond-polished blades. Machining the crystal continues with grinding the diameter to within 2/100ths of a millimeter, and then surfacing, meaning adjusting the thickness.
